Arriving to Helsinki

The easiest way to reach Helsinki central from the Helsinki-Vantaa airport is by bus. Busses 615 and 620 drive between the airport and Helsinki Central Railway station.

EIT ICT Labs will provide students with pre-loaded travel cards. The travel cards can be used to gain access to public transportation in greater Helsinki area. This includes cities of Helsinki, Vantaa and Espoo. The cards can be picked up from the airport after arrival. Currently, we plan to leave them in named envelopes at the airport Airpro travel services (https://www.finavia.fi/en/helsinki-airport/services/travel-services/airpro-travel-services-24h/). The airport Airpro travel services can be found in the Terminal 2. Try to remember to pick up your card before leaving the airport. Please do note that there are also busses where the cards are not valid: for example, busses branded for Finnair do not accept the travel card. You should travel with either 615 or 620 to Helsinki Central Railway station: the card is valid for both of these. This is the final stop for the busses, so you can not miss it.

EIT Master Students and Outreach-support receivers will stay in Radisson Blu Seaside -hotel, located in Helsinki, for the duration of the summer school. Easiest way to arrive to the hotel by public transportation after arrival to Helsinki Central Railway station is hopping on to tram number 6 towards Hietalahti or 6t towards Länsisatama (West Terminal). If you hopped on 6 or 6T, the stop you should get off the tram is called Kalevankatu. The address of the hotel is Ruoholahdenranta 3, Helsinki. Please note that check-in is possible at 15.00 local time, so it might be that you need to wait for a while depending on when your flight arrives to Finland.

Unless indicated otherwise, all course activities will be located in Espoo Open Innovation House in Otaniemi, seminar room A116
